Lunar New Year Stamp Launch - Saturday, January 22, 2011
by United State Postal Service
To welcome the Year of the Rabbit beginning February 3, 2011 and ending February 22, 2012, the U.S.
Postal Service is issuing the fourth stamp in its Celebration Lunar New Year series.
According to a legend associate with the Chinese lunar calender. 12 animals raced across a river to determine the order of their appearance
in its dozen-year cycle. The rat, after riding across the river on the back of the ox, jumped ahead at the last minute and was declared the
winner. The tiger came ashore behind the ox, and the rabbit came in fourth.

OCA Georgia Voting Initiative
by Tricia Sung
OCA Georgia continues its tradition of encouraging civic participation through voter empowerment. In September, OCA GA held a voter
registration event at Hong Kong Supermarket in Norcross, GA which drew largely Vietnamese American registrants.
Board members Alfred and WooiYi Yin also registered voters at a number of Asian American community events throughout September and
October. An important goal is to encourage voters to go to the polls in November 2009.
In the coming months, OCA GA will collaborate with community partners to conduct voter registration and education events throughout
Georgia leading up to the November 2010 election which features the highly contentious governor’s race.
The voting project will address a number of issues including challenging common myths about voting and voter registration and the
impact of Georgia’s new voter ID requirement on voter registration drives. Please contact ocageorgia@yahoo.org if you wish to volunteer.
